Superbrand Mall
Our team has designed and delivered a revolutionary shopping mall in Luoyang, China that challenges the notion that malls are just ‘corridors with shops in boxes’.
Our solution was to activate and energise the public spaces with flexible retail solutions, brand experiences and leisure activities as well as building a sustainable retail system into the architectural planning from day one that allowed the mall operator to introduce new brands and create a bustling, commercially prosperous and ever changing environment for their customers.
In this mall you can book a piano lesson for your daughter, have a physio session, attend a yoga class, test sports equipment, and attend a cooking class. We also created a revolutionary incubator for new retailers, entering the market for the first time. We designed a modular merchandising system to allow each retailer to grow with their sales performance. Eventually, successful brands can graduate into a mall shop unit.

We wanted to challenge the notion that malls are just big banal buildings with corridors and shops. Our solution was to activate and energise the public spaces, and to build a sustainable retail system into the architectural planning from day one. Our we created a retail incubator which we integrated into the retail planning from day one. The incubator, sits at the heart of each floor plate and is designed to be a place where new brands can be trialled on shorter leases before 'graduating' into the established shop units.
Each floor features a different retail zone such as Fashion, Sports, Family and has a complimentary incubator zone in each to create an experiential beating heart where customers can try our a tennis racket, attend a fashion show, or attend a cooking class.
We provide a comprehensive construction supervision service and regularly attend site to monitor progress.
Where required, we provide comprehensive drawing and documentation packages in order to clearly communicate the design to the contractor.
