Studio X is a commercial interior design studio based in Hong Kong and Singapore, specialising in commercially intelligent retail, workplace, hospitality and mixed-use environments that enhance business performance.

Studio X is a founder-led commercial interior design practice based in Hong Kong and Singapore.
It was founded on a simple conviction: good design and commercial performance are inseparable.

The studio was established by Rufus Turnbull following a career delivering projects for international brands across Asia-Pacific and Europe. A consistent pattern emerged: the strongest outcomes came when design was grounded in a clear understanding of the business, not just the brief.
That remains our operating model. We begin with questions - what the space needs to do, for whom, and under what commercial pressures. The answers define the design.
We are deliberately agnostic in style. There is no Studio X signature to impose. Each project responds to its context, whether driving retail performance, improving workplace effectiveness, or repositioning an asset.
We operate as a small, senior-led studio by design. Clients work directly with the people responsible for thinking, making and delivering the project - from first conversation to completion.
(Founder)Studio X bridges the gap between brand, space, and commercial reality. We approach every project with a belief that design should not only look great, but perform — for clients, users, and the long-term value of the asset.

With experience delivering projects across Asia-Pacific and Europe, Rufus brings a brand-driven yet commercially grounded approach to spatial design. His work focuses on translating business objectives into clear, buildable environments that balance identity, usability, and operational performance.
Rufus works closely with clients, consultants, and delivery teams from early concept through to completion, ensuring design intent is protected while remaining responsive to programme, budget, and real-world constraints.
His approach is pragmatic, collaborative, and rooted in long-term client relationships.
We work in sectors where spatial decisions materially affect brand perception, operational performance, and commercial outcomes.
